We have been tracking progress of many companies and teams. Interesting to see which goals they pick as their most important one. Here an overview.
Mon Jul 26, 2021
Where to focus on? What would you answer to this first key question? If you want to improve results, we must first have a measure of our success. But what do you currently value more? Which measurable goal is most important for the next 3 months?
Maybe not surprising, but by far the number 1 selected goal by all the teams we have worked with is growth. The concept is simply 'more'. This usually means that the belief is: "With our current people, in our current market, with our current products, we can do more."
The concept here is 'Better'. In most cases the actual goal is still growth, but there is a problem that is limiting our growth. If our customers are not promotors, this will stagnate growth. So we need to find a way to satisfy them more. Find out what they want, how to give it to them & why they (don't) buy from us.
The concept is 'We are not making any money.' Even with a satisfying total revenue, we are still not making (enough) money. This means we're losing it somewhere. Either in 1 particular spot or in many, many places along the way. We need to set an improvement goal on efficiency.
"We have to set our focus on our main topic that all teams can relate to."
